A five-member senior delegation from the China Research Institute of Film Science and Technology (CRIFST) visited ORIGO Studios in Budapest on September 8, 2026, as part of a wider professional tour of Europe.
The visit gave the delegation an opportunity to learn about the studio’s operations and created a forum for direct introductions and the development of professional relationships between Chinese and Hungarian film-technology specialists.
Senior technology delegation in Budapest
The CRIFST delegation was led by Xu Tao, vice president responsible for technology. He was joined by technology director Dong Qiangguo, deputy technology directors Gao Feng and He Xiao, and technology engineer Zhang Hui.
Also present were Yi Liu and Yuncheng An, representing Digital Ocean, as well as Colorfront specialist József Hatfaludi. Tamás Wisinger, ORIGO Studios’ head of studio rental and services, represented the Budapest production facility.
CRIFST is China’s national film-technology research institution, with work spanning research, standardization, testing, certification and the industry application of new production technologies. The Budapest meeting offered a practical opportunity for experts working in different parts of the screen sector to establish personal contacts and identify areas for future professional dialogue.
A broader European technology mission
The delegation’s wider European program focuses on advanced film and television production technologies and integrated production workflows. These areas formed part of the broader trip and were not presented as technologies examined specifically during the ORIGO Studios visit.
Among the subjects on the European agenda are large-scale curved LED-wall hardware systems and technical solutions that integrate real-time rendering engines with camera-tracking data. The program also explores practical virtual-production applications, including the reuse of digital assets and the real-time matching of virtual lighting with lighting on set.
The participants are additionally examining how international studios optimize end-to-end production services. This includes integrated, industrial-scale workflows covering location scouting, virtual previsualization, shooting schedules and standardized post-production deliverables.
Building direct industry connections
The ORIGO Studios stop placed Budapest within that wider exchange of international production knowledge. Beyond the technical subjects discussed during the European tour, the visit created direct links among researchers, technology specialists and studio professionals.
As production methods increasingly connect physical stages, virtual environments, real-time image systems and post-production pipelines, such professional exchanges can help institutions and companies better understand how different markets organize complex film and television workflows.
For Hungary, the meeting also highlighted Budapest’s continuing role as a point of contact for international film professionals seeking first-hand insight into European studio operations and production expertise.
