The shooting of the latest addition to the Alien franchise, directed and written by Fede Alvarez, is set to begin this Thursday, and the filmmakers have also unveiled a sinister synopsis and an extended cast list for the film.
Filming of the ninth Alien movie will begin on March 9, at Budapest’s Origo Studios, which has served as the location for a number of Hollywood blockbusters in recent years.
While the full plot is yet unknown, 20th Century Studios revealed that the film will follow the adventures of “a group of young people on a distant world, who find themselves in a confrontation with the most terrifying life form in the universe.” The film will join the Alien prequel series, which started 11 years ago with “Prometheus”.
The studio also revealed new information about the people joining previously announced lead Cailee Spaeny, who played in films such as “Pacific Rim Uprising” and “Vice”.
The cast of the movie will include the likes of British actor David Jonsson (known for his performances in Industry and Rye Lane), Archie Renaux (Gold Digger, Shadow and Bone), Isabela Merced (Transformers: The Last Knight, Sweet Girl), Spike Fearn (The Batman, Aftersun), and Aileen Wu (Away from Home).
Helping the work of director Alvarez will be original Alien director Ridley Scott, serving as executive producer alongside Michael Pruss. They are joined by producers Brent O’Connor, Elizabeth Cantillon, and Tom Moran.
