The fifth edition of MOZ.GO – Hungarian Motion Picture Festival will take place from June 18 to 21, showcasing nearly 100 Hungarian films across 15 venues in Veszprém, Balatonfüred, and Balatonalmádi. With support from the National Film Institute and the Hungarian Film Academy, the festival serves as a major celebration of national cinema.
This year’s opening film is the musical romantic comedy Hogyan tudnék élni nélküled?, the most-watched Hungarian film since the regime change, with over 800,000 viewers. The film, featuring the music of Ferenc Demjén, will be screened in the presence of its creators and stars including Franciska Törőcsik and Márk Ember.
The program includes premieres such as Kell egy oroszlán, A legpompásabb emberi elme, 1968 – Egy szerelem rekonstrukciója, and Királytalálkozó, as well as series like Hunyadi and A nemzet aranyai. Alongside new works, the festival also features restored classics and tributes to Makk Károly, Darvas Iván, and Mécs Károly.
Tickets are available for a symbolic price of 500 HUF, encouraging broad audience participation. According to government commissioner Csaba Káel, the festival showcases the strength and diversity of contemporary Hungarian filmmaking across genres and formats.
The Magyar Mozgókép Díj (Hungarian Motion Picture Awards) will be presented in 22 categories this year, including best feature film, series, documentary, and animation. The jury, chaired by actress Anikó Für, includes industry professionals such as József Pacskovszki, Judit Romwalter, István Zoltán Tóth, and Csaba Horváth.
The event also hosts the Made in Hungary program, offering insight into international productions shot in Hungary with the help of local professionals. Additional highlights include exhibitions, book launches, roundtables, concerts, and gastronomy events.
The festival will conclude on June 21 with the awards gala broadcast live from Balatonfüred’s Congress Center on public TV channel M5.
