The Emmy Awards announced this year’s nominees on July, 13. HBO and HBO MAX scooped up the most nominations this year with 130, with Netflix just one nomination behind with 129. What’s even more exciting is that the nominees include Marcell Rév with Euphoria.

In the Best Drama Series category, „The Crown”, about the British royal family, is up for the prestigious TV award, along with „Bridgerton”, „The Boys”, „The Handmaid’s Tale”, „Lovecraft Country”, „The Mandalorian” and „The Pose”. And in the comedy series field, „Ted Lasso”, „Black-ish”, „Cobra Kai”, „Emily in Paris”, „Hacks”, „The Kominsky Method”, „PEN15” or „The Stewardess” could be up for the prize.

Among the limited series, „Easttown Mysteries” with Kate Winslet, „The Leader”, „WandaVison”, „The Underground Railroad” and „I May Destroy You” will be competing for the trophy. The nominations show the rise of the streaming services, with NBC‘s „This is Us” the only television production to make it into the three main award categories of Best Drama, Comedy, and Limited Series.

After Marina Gera became the first Hungarian to win the most prestigious and important award in television in 2019, the Emmy, this year’s nominees for the biggest American television award, the Emmy, include another Hungarian. Marcell Rév is up for an episode of the HBO series „Euphoria” in the category “Outstanding Cinematography for a Single-Camera Series”.

Marcell Rév was nominated for the episode of „Trouble Don’t Last Always”, which aired in December 2020. The episode was the first of two specials in the 2019 series, in which the main character, Rue, played by Zendaya, sits in a café and talks to her mentor about her relapse into drugs and the loss of her love, among other things. Rue was nominated for the award in the category “Outstanding Cinematography in a Single-Camera Series (One Hour)”.

„Euphoria” was also nominated in two other categories – make-up and costume. The other nominees in the category for Marcell Rév are „Bridgerton”, „Lovecraft Country”, „Perry Mason”, „The Crown”, „Mandalorian” and an episode of „The Umbrella Academy”.

Rév Marcell has worked on films such as „Paterno”, „Jupiter’s Moon”, „White God”, „Stormcrows” and „Malcolm and Marrie”. His latest work is „The Story of My Wife”, directed by Ildikó Enyedi, which is currently competing for the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival.

The 73rd Emmy Awards will take place on the 19th of September.
