French film production company CinéFrance Studios is currently in production on their feature film “La Chambre de Mariana”, with filming taking place in Hungary. The film is being produced by Julien Deris, David Gauquié, Jean-Luc Ormières, and Christine de Jekel, with Emmanuel Finkiel serving as both writer and director.
The film follows the story of Yulia, who is fleeing the ghetto and deportation in 1943 Ukraine and Poland. She entrusts her 11-year-old son, Hugo, to her childhood friend Mariana, who is now a 35-year-old prostitute working in a brothel. Hugo‘s existence is suspended in a reduced room without windows, adjoining Mariana‘s room, and his imagination becomes his only resource as he becomes aware of both the massacres being perpetrated and the mysteries of sexuality.
Actress Mélanie Thierry leads the cast as Mariana, with production companies Curiosa Films and Celluloid Dreams also attached to the project. The film promises to be an emotionally charged drama with a unique premise that explores the horrors of war and the resilience of the human spirit.
