The first trailer for Yorgos Lanthimos’ highly anticipated film “Poor Things” has been released, creating excitement among fans. This adaptation of Alasdair Grey’s novel boasts a stellar cast including Emma Stone, Mark Ruffalo, Ramy Youssef, Willem Dafoe, and Jerrod Carmichael.

Grey‘s 1992 novel, a postmodern revision of Frankenstein, centers around Bella Baxter, a beautiful young erotomaniac who is brought back to life with the brain of an infant. The story follows Godwin Baxter‘s ambition to create the perfect companion and the subsequent complications that arise from Dr. Archibald McCandless‘ jealous love for Baxter‘s creation. The novel received the Whitbread Novel Award and Guardian Fiction Prize in 1992.
