Oscar-winning actor Eddie Redmayne was seen at a student protest in Budapest on Monday, according to local media reports.
A protest was held in Budapest on Monday in solidarity with teachers. Organized by the ADOM Student Movement, the Civil Platform for Public Education and the PDSZ – Democratic Trade Union of Teachers, the demonstration started in the afternoon, with several hundred protesters gathering on Oktogon before marching to the Ministry of Interior to call attention to the plight of teachers in Hungary.
Eddie Redmayne, who is in town for filming, turned up towards the end of the demonstration. While tabloid reports noted that he may have had no prior knowledge of the demonstration, he even stopped to take a selfie with a student protester.
The British actor is set to star in the new espionage thriller “The Day of the Jackal”, which is a contemporary reimagining of Frederick Forsyth’s classic novel. The series follows a professional assassin who is contracted by a French paramilitary dissident to kill French President Charles de Gaulle.
Produced by Carnival Film & Television, the series will be available on Sky/Peacock, and will be filmed in multiple locations including Budapest, Austria, Croatia, and London.
