Dune: Messiah Production May Begin Early in Summer 2025

According to recent Hollywood Reporter sources, Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Messiah may begin production in summer 2025, earlier than previously anticipated. This highly awaited third installment will continue the journey of Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) as he navigates the intense political and personal costs of leadership on Arrakis.

Following the success of “Dune: Part One” and “Part Two”, which captivated audiences with their lush visuals and complex storytelling, “Dune: Messiah” will dive deeper into themes of power, faith, and sacrifice that define Frank Herbert’s original novels.

The previous films, both shot in 2021 and 2023, set a new standard in sci-fi filmmaking and laid the groundwork for “Dune: Messiah”. In addition, Villeneuve’s world-building has extended beyond film to streaming with the series “Dune: Prophecy”, broadening the universe for fans.

If production returns to Origo Studios in Hungary, where the first two films and “Dune: Prophecy” were also filmed, Villeneuve will have access to existing set pieces and intricate designs that define the Dune universe. Hungary has become an essential setting for Villeneuve’s vision of Arrakis, and a return to Origo could ensure a consistent visual continuity across the films, allowing fans to revisit familiar landscapes while exploring new layers of Herbert’s saga.
