Comic Con is coming to Budapest this weekend, for the first time ever

Geeks of Budapest unite: after many delays in the past 2 years, the Budapest Comic Con is finally happening!

The San Diego Comic Con is one of the most famous pop-culture events in the United States, and while many European capitals have hosted similar events, Hungary was left out of the fun for a long time. From June 11th to 12th, Hungarian comic book fans can finally spend an exciting weekend at HUNGEXPO, attending Q&As and roundtables with actors and creators of their favorite shows and movies, with many interesting programs in between.

The more venturesomes can take part in cosplay competitions, digital drawing contests and even a lesson at the Jedi Academy, but there are many programs for “bystanders” and families too, like Marvel and Star Wars exhibitions. It wouldn’t be Comic Con without legendary comic book writers and artists, the 501st Legion, professional cosplayers and many others, who will surely make this long-awaited event memorable.

Among the invited actors are Game of Thrones’ Jack Gleeson, John Rhys-Davies, who played Gimli in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and Christopher Lambert, protagonist of the classic film series Highlander, who is rumored to play a smaller role in the upcoming Hungarian-Mongolian-English coproduction, “Gateway to the West”.

Hungarian 3D animation studio DIGIC Pictures is also hosting a show on both days. The studio has become world-known in the past few years, thanks to their amazing CGI sequences in several videogames, and Emmy nomination for their episode in Netflix’s rather strange hit series, “Love, Death & Robots”.
