While the end of summer is sure to bring about cooler temperatures, there will be plenty of hot, star-studded releases coming in September, including one filmed in Hungary.
The Nun II (8 September)
Fans of supernatural horror movies need not wait too long, as “The Nun II” is set for a theatrical release early this month. Directed by Michael Chaves, the film serves as the ninth installment in The Conjuring Universe, and the direct sequel to 2018’s “The Nun”. Returning cast members Taissa Farmiga, Jonas Bloquet, and Bonnie Aarons are joined by the likes Storm Reid and Anna Popplewell. “The Nun II” is set some four years after the ending of its prequel, following Sister Irene (played by Farmiga) as she has to once again face demonic force Valak (Aarons), the Nun, at a French boarding school.
Expend4bles (22 September)
The latest addition to The Expendables franchise is also coming to a movie theater near you this month. This time around, the team, led by Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) and Lee Christmas (Jason Statham) of course is on a mission to stop a terrorist leader who runs an organization looking to ignite a conflict between Russia and the United States by smuggling nuclear warheads. Directed by Scott Waugh, the film also see Dolph Lundgren and Randy Couture reprise their roles from the earlier installments of the franchise. However, there will also be plenty of new additions, such as 50 Cent playing a new member of the team, Megan Fox starring as Christmas’ girlfriend, and Iko Uwais, who will act as Suarto Rahmat, the film’s main antagonist.
The Creator (29 September)
Arriving at the end of September, sci-fi thriller “The Creator” is set to bring a war between the human race and the forces of artificial intelligence to the cinemas. Directed and co-produced by Gareth Edwards, the film’s plot is set in the future, following Joshua, an ex-special forces agent recruited to hunt down and kill the Creator, who has developed a mysterious weapon with the power to end the war by destroying mankind itself. The movie features a strong cast filled with the likes of John David Washington, Gemma Chan, and Ken Watanabe. “The Creator” is set to mark director Edwards’ return to making original films after directing “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” back in 2016.
