Breakout, produced by Anton Corp and Breakout Movie Limited, features the legendary actor Arnold Schwarzenegger and is scheduled to begin production in the summer of 2023.
In “Breakout”, Schwarzenegger portrays Terry Reynolds, a man pushed to his limits when his stepson, Daniel, is falsely accused of drug trafficking and condemned to a 25-year prison sentence in Bangladesh. With time against him, Terry seeks the assistance of two old friends to orchestrate a daring plan to free Daniel from prison and reveal the truth behind the false charges.
This heart-pumping narrative is further complicated by an overzealous prison warden, making their escape plan even more perilous. “Breakout” promises a race against time, as Terry battles against all odds to save his stepson’s life and clear his name.
The choice of Budapest as the film’s location aligns with a trend in the industry, as Hungary‘s capital established itself as a go-to destination for international filmmakers due to its wonderful locations and supportive film production infrastructure.
Directed by Scott Waugh, known for his work on “Act of Valor” and “Need for Speed”, and penned by Richard D’Ovidio, the writer of “The Call”, the film promises to be a riveting addition to the action-thriller genre.
UPDATE: Arnold Schwarzenegger was supposed to fly to Budapest this week to start filming Breakout, but due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, the production was halted and he had to cancel the trip.
