Angelina Jolie is set to move to Budapest for a few months, to shoot a film about the life of famed opera singer Maria Callas, according to local media reports.
Hungarian tabloid Blikk noted that she is expected to stay in Budapest for about three months. The last time Jolie shot a film in Hungary was some 13 years ago, when she directed “In the Land of Blood and Honey”. During the shooting, she lived in a villa in the Hungarian capital’s District II with her family, renting the property for about HUF 3 million per month.
Deadline writes that “Maria” will be based on true accounts, telling the tale of the world’s most famous female opera singer and her final days in Paris in the 1970s. Filming is already in progress, with Paris, Greece, Budapest, and Milan serving as shooting location.
The film, directed by Pablo Larraín, will also feature the likes of Pierfrancesco Favino, Alba Rohrwacher, Haluk Bilginer, and Valeria Golino.
