The Dune Part 2 Script Is Finished-Says Denis Villeneuve

Dune 2 is Done as a Script

Warner Bros next big production that isn’t a DC Comics movie will be the second part of Dune. The film, based on the novel series by Frank Herbert, was a major success for both the box office and the accolades. Thus, director Denis Villenueve will be moving forward with directing “Dune Part 2”, which will cover the last half of the first book.

Production on “Dune Part 2” is due to start soon. Villenueve, in an interview in Collider, has confirmed that script is completed enough that they’re ready to shoot:

„The screenplay is finished mostly, but it’s always a work in progress. It’ll be a work in progress until final cut, but I will say it’s solidified. I have a script in my hands. We are in prep right now.”

“Dune Part 2” will start production this year as the film currently has a theatrical release date of October 20th, 2023.

Courtney Cox will return in Scream 6

More Scream on the Way

This January saw the release of the fifth Scream, simply titled as “Scream”. The sequel continued the meta commentary on slasher movies with an updated view of how toxic fandom can be lethal. The box office was big enough, making over $140 million, that Scream will be heading back to the theaters for a sixth entry.

But who will be in the sixth film? So far, Courtney Cox has been confirmed to once more return as the reporter Gale Weathers. She confirmed this on the Just for Variety podcast:

„I got the script yesterday. I haven’t read it yet, I just got it… I’m excited to read it, and I know they’re gonna start filming I think in June, in Canada. I don’t know if I’m supposed to say anything. Let me tell you the killer!”

Production on Scream 6 will be begin in a few months. No theatrical release date has been set at this time.

Netflix’s The Crown Season 6 confirmed

The Crown Season 6 shoots this Summer

“The Crown” has been one of the most addicting of royal drama for depicting the epic tale of English royalty and all the drama that entails. The sixth season will grow ever closer to the present by depicting the princes and other royalty as teenagers.

Netflix confirmed in a report through Variety that they’re actively looking for some teenagers to look the part. Specifically, they need a Prince Williams that’s 16-21 years old and a Prince Harry that’s 16-20 years old.

Filming for the season will start in August in the United Kingdom.

Rich Moore

Rich Moore Makes a Big Deal with Skydance Animation

Rich Moore is a filmmaker most will recognize for his work on the animated films “Zootopia” and “Wreck-It Ralph”. He would leave Disney in 2019, however, to pursue different kinds of animated movies, as with the 2021 Netflix animated film “Vivo” under Sony. That Sony contract, however, was rather brief for an unexplained reason.

Right now, Moore has inked a deal with Skydance Animation. Skydance is currently working other top names in animation such as John Lassetter and Brad Bird. Brad Bird, who directed the sleeper classic “The Iron Giant”, is currently working on a passion project through Skydance called Ray Gunn.

Skydance Animation initially has a contract with Paramount+ but they’re now making productions exclusively for Apple+. There’s no word yet on what animated film Moore will be working on.

Milla Jovovich will return for Netflix’s Resident Evil series

Netflix Developing Live-Action Resident Evil Series

Milla Jovovich will return to her iconic role as Alice for this Resident Evil series entitled “Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City”. The series will still focus on the Umbrella Corporation that unleashes the T-Virus which transforms people into the flesh-munching undead.

Here’s the synopsis of what the script will be like:

„Year 2036 – 14 years after a deadly virus caused a global apocalypse, Jade Wesker fights for survival in a world overrun by the blood-thirsty infected and insane creatures. In this absolute carnage, Jade is haunted by her past in New Raccoon City, by her father’s chilling connections to the Umbrella Corporation but mostly by what happened to her sister, Billie.”

The Netflix show will debut on July 14th, 2022.

Scott Derrickson /director of Doctor Strange/

Scott Derrickson Working on a new Action Movie

Scott Derrickson is a director who is mostly known for horror movies like “Sinister” and the upcoming “The Black Phone” but he also directed the Marvel movie “Doctor Strange”. As no stranger to action, Derrickson will be jumping back into this genre with Skydance.

His new film will be called “The Gorge”, according to an article from The Hollywood Reporter. Not much is known about the film at this time as it’s only being described as a high-action, genre-bending love story.

Zach Dean, known for Amazon’s “The Tomorrow War”, has written the script. Derrickson’s production company of Crooked Highway will be involved, as well as long-time co-workers C. Robert Cargill and Sherryl Clark acting as producers. David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger of Skydance will also be producing.

No theatrical release date is confirmed yet for “The Gorge” or a shooting date. There isn’t even a distributor chosen at this time.
