Sunday evening the Golden Globes came to our home, as this year it was all online, just like most of the events due to the coronavirus.
The most popular of all was Netflix with its series, “The Crown”, as it had 6 nominees, and won in 4 of them.
The biggest historical moment was the “Nomadland’s” victory, because it was directed by an Asian female director. This was the very first time it has happened.
The “Nomadland” director, who was born in China, is only the second woman to win the award.
The first was Barbra Streisand in 1984.
“I cannot stress this enough, as an Asian woman in the arts, it is so inspiring to see Chloe Zhao make history tonight as the first woman of colour to win for best director,” said one Twitter user.
The “Borat 2” with Sasha Baron Cohen, which is the second part of the 2006 film, was the best film in comedy/musical category. And Cohen won the best actor in comedy/musical category.
Andra Day won the best actress in motion picture drama category with the “United States vs. Billie Holiday” film.
Chadwick Boseman, who died of cancer in 2020, received a posthumous award for Best Actor for “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”.
