The Hungarian film was awarded by the Oscar-winning chairman of the jury

As Far as I Know in the National Film Institute Incubator Program won the Grand Prix at the Riviera International Film Festival, and the jury was chaired by Oscar-winning screenwriter-director Kenneth Lonergan. The first film made by Nándor Lőrincz and Bálint Nagy, starring Gabriella Hámori and Balázs Bodolai, can be seen by the Hungarian public in the winter of 2021.

It was announced over the weekend that the film by Nándor Lőrincz and Bálint Nagy, “As Far as I Know”, won First place of the Riviera International Film Festival. The film festival in Sestri Levanta, Italy, between May 20 – 30. Exciting works were presented from all over the world. The jury was chaired by Oscar-winning screenwriter-director Kenneth Lonergan, who records works like “Manchester by the Sea” and “Gangs of New York” directed by Martin Scorsese among others.

The first film by Nándor Lőrincz and Bálint Nagy is a relationship drama caused by sexual abuse of the female side, but the events are seen from the man’s point of view. “As Far as I Know” starring Gabriella Hámori and Balázs Bodolai in the NFI Incubator Program, which supports emerging artists. The film had its world premiere last year at the only A-category international film festival in Northern Europe, Tallinn Black Nights.

The protagonist of the story is Nóra and Dénes, a young couple. Dénes‘ wife is raped one night. Due to conflicting testimony and lack of evidence, the police are unable to do justice to the case. The husband first stands by his wife, supports him, personally tries to find out exactly what happened that night, but later the processing of the case puts their relationship to the test. The couple finds themselves in a particularly difficult position because all of this is happening at the end of an adoption, and what had happened is influencing the outcome of the decision.

Nándor Lőrincz graduated from the University of Theater and Film Arts as a screenwriter and Bálint Nagy as a cinematographer. After several festival-winning short films and successful video clips, their first joint film was shot in 2019 under the direction of producers Mónika Mécs and Ági Pataki, with a Romanian participation in the co-production of M&M Film and Partnersfilm. “As Far as I Know”, his screenplay is written by Nándor Lőrincz, the cameraman was Bálint Nagy, the composer was Attila Fodor and the editor was Márton Gothár.

“As Far as I Know”, will be shown in the distribution of Budapest Film in the winter of 2021.
