With just days to go, the buzz around the 55th International Quorum of Motion Picture Producers (IQ) Conference is reaching fever pitch. The highly anticipated event is scheduled to kick off next Monday, October 9th, and promises to bring together a veritable Who’s Who of the international film industry to Budapest.
The event begins with a star-studded “Shooting Star Soiree” on October 9th at the W Budapest Hotel. Attendees will have the chance to rub shoulders with over 50 of Hungary’s most acclaimed film actors, providing ample opportunities for networking, interviews, and photographs.
The following day, “The Hungarian Film Industry Mixer” will take place at The Workshop in Budapest. Co-produced by Astra Film Studios and Roe Creative Display, the event offers a unique platform to engage with top-notch Hungarian film producers and directors.
Expert Panels and Tech Talks
A highlight of the conference will undoubtedly be the round-table discussion featuring industry stalwarts like Adam Goodman of Mid Atlantic Films, producer of Academy-Award winning Son of Saul, Astra Studios CEO Gábor Rajna, and newly added panelist Viktória Petrányi, producer of Proton Cinema, currently servicing Modi, Johnny Depp’s directorial effort lensing in Budapest. The panel – to be moderated by Népszava’s Géza Csákvári – is to shine a spotlight on the achievements of Hungary’s service industry, while also drawing conclusions from the past to help IQ’s attending producers with valuable lessons for their own countries.
“I greatly appreciate how these internationally recognised filmmakers join forces to help each other grow through sharing not just their experiences, but also their personal stories, fears and hopes.” – added Balázs Juszt, Hungarian IQ member and host of this year’s conference.
(The panel is to be held October 10th, 3-5PM at the Continental Hotel. Registration is required and spaces are limited. If you wish to attend, send registrations to eszter@eventeurope.eu with the subject “Hungarian Film Industry Panel RSVP”.)
Keynote Speakers
Academy Award-winning producer Cathy Schulman and Hungarian cultural icon Miklós Szinetár are set to deliver the opening and closing keynote speeches, respectively. Their insights promise to bookend the conference with thought-provoking discussions on the state of the film industry, both locally and internationally.
The 55th IQ Conference is more than just a networking event; it’s a hub for knowledge sharing, collaboration, and inspiration among trusted industry professionals. With the clock ticking down, the excitement is palpable. Get ready, Budapest; the film industry’s elite are coming to town, and they’re bringing a world of possibilities with them.
