The upcoming feature film “The Brutalist” is currently filming in Budapest, Hungary. The film is being produced by Trevor Matthews, Nick Gordon, Brian Young, Andrew Morrison, Andrew Lauren, D.J. Gugenheim, Joshua Horsfield, and Viktoria Petrányi.
“The Brutalist” features an impressive cast that includes Adrien Brody, Felicity Jones, Guy Pearce, Joe Alwyn, Raffey Cassidy, Isaach De Bankolé, Alessandro Nivola, Stacy Martin, Jonathan Hyde, and Peter Polycarpou. The film is being produced by Andrew Lauren Productions, Brookstreet Pictures, Yellow Bear Films, Carte Blanche, Lip Sync, Protagonist Pictures, and CAA Media Finance.
The film follows the story of László Toth (played by Adrien Brody) and his wife Erzsebet (played by Felicity Jones) as they try to establish themselves in post-war America. Despite enduring poverty and indignity at first, László‘s genius as an architect is recognized by the charming industrialist Harrison Lee Van Buren (played by Guy Pearce). Van Buren offers László and his family the American Dream, commissioning him to design a grand modernist monument and help shape the landscape of the country he now calls home. However, this ambitious project will take László and Erzsébet to both monumental heights and devastating lows.
Written by Brady Corbet and Mona Fastvold and directed by Brady Corbet, “The Brutalist” is not just a film about the uncompromising vision of an artist and the rebuilding of a nation by a generation of immigrants; it is also a powerful love story about a couple struggling to protect themselves against a patron whose dark influence threatens to destroy everything they have built.
