According to our sources, the shooting of “The Actor”, a brand-new thriller directed by Duke Johnson, is set to begin in Budapest in the last quarter of 2022.
The movie, backed by a strong producer team featuring Ryan Gosling, Ken Kao, Abigail Spencer, and Paul Young, is said to be based on the novel “Memory” by Donald E. Westlake, originally written in 1963 and published posthumously in 2010. The screenplay was written by director Duke Johnson and Stephen Cooney.
André Holland is set to play New York actor Paul Cole, the film’s main character. Cole is badly beaten and left for dead in 1950s Ohio, getting stranded in a mysterious small town. Stripped of his memory, in “The Actor” Cole will try to put the pieces together, reclaim his life and identity, and find a way back home.
“The Actor”, featuring an eclectic cast which includes the likes of Gemma Chan, May Calamawy, Tanya Reynolds, Olwen Fouéré, Tracey Ullman, Simon McBurney, Edward Hogg, and Toby Jones, will follow a journey relatable to many of the viewers: finding home, finding love, and ultimately, finding one’s own self.
