SAG-AFTRA Strike Impact - The Complete List of Affected Productions in Hungary

The ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, the first of its kind since 1980, has caused significant disruptions in the world of entertainment. Many film and TV productions have come to a standstill, both locally and internationally.

Hungary, a popular filming location, has also been impacted, with several major productions experiencing delays, shutdowns, or even relocations. Fortunately, some projects have been granted waivers by SAG-AFTRA, allowing them to continue their production. Here’s an updated rundown on how the strike is influencing key international projects filming in Hungary:

The Day of the Jackal – This NBC/Peacock miniseries features Eddie Redmayne as the Jackal, an elite, elusive assassin on a high-stakes mission. Unfortunately, due to the strike, production on this captivating project has been delayed.

Death of a Unicorne – A thrilling narrative that follows Elliot and his daughter Ridley who, en route to a crisis management summit, accidentally crash into a unicorn. The consequences of this accident are far-reaching and deadly. Despite the strike, production on this intriguing film continues unhindered, thanks to a SAG-AFTRA waiver.

Dune: The Sisterhood – This series, set in the renowned universe of Frank Herbert‘s “Dune,” sheds light on the formidable women of the Bene Gesserit. After a long hiatus, production has resumed at ORIGO Studios in Hungary, the same location where Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune” parts 1 and 2 were filmed. The ongoing strike has not halted the production of this series, thanks to a SAG-AFTRA waiver.

Dust Bunny – In this thrilling story, young Aurora must confront a fearsome threat lurking under her bed. Enlisting the help of her enigmatic hitman neighbor, Aurora seeks to combat the monster. The production of “Dust Bunny” continues undeterred by the strike, with a SAG-AFTRA waiver in place.

FBI: International, Season 3 – This CBS spin-off drama series tracks the work of the FBI‘s international operations division, handling cases beyond the U.S. borders. The latest season, however, has been unfortunately delayed due to the strike.

The Killer’s Game – Dave Bautista stars as Joe Flood, an elite hitman diagnosed with a terminal illness, whose life takes an unexpected turn. Despite the ongoing strike, the production of this action-packed film continues, granted a SAG-AFTRA waiver.

Untitled Formula One / Joseph Kosinski Project – This highly anticipated project, starring Brad Pitt and set in the thrilling world of Formula One racing, was slated to be filmed around the Hungarian Grand Prix between 21-23 June. However, due to the strike, not only has the project been delayed, it is also likely that the production won’t come to Hungary at all.

The SAG-AFTRA strike is causing unprecedented disruptions in the entertainment industry worldwide. As negotiations continue, the status of these projects may change. We will keep you updated as we navigate through this uncertain period in Hollywood‘s history.
