A new trailer, the first photos and other details – here is everything about Denis Villeneuve’s highly anticipated Dune: Part Two!
During the Warner Bros. panel at CinemaCon last week, Denis Villeneuve described the sequel as “an action-packed, epic, war movie” that is “much more dense.” According to the director, every set and location in Part Two is new, with 100% of the film shot in IMAX.
Only a lucky few was able to see the film’s first trailer last week, but Warner Bros. just released it to the public:
Timothée Chalamet, who plays the protagonist Paul Atreides, revealed that the sequel would see his character’s transformation from student to leader and “redeemer of the Fremen people.” The trailer itself showcases an epic scope, featuring a centerpiece of Paul‘s first ride on a Sandworm and preparing for battle against Austin Butler‘s notorious Feyd Rautha Harkonnen.
Speaking of Butler‘s character, Villeneuve described him as an “Olympic sword-master crossed with a psychotic serial killer.” The sequel’s new cast members include Christopher Walken as the Emperor, Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan Corrino, Léa Seydoux as Lady Margot, and Souheila Yacoub as Shishakli, among others. Meanwhile, returning stars include Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Charlotte Rampling, and Stephen McKinley Henderson.
Vanity Fair also released an exclusive first-look on Dune: Part Two with photos of returning and new characters played by Austin Butler and Florence Pugh.
Part Two of the adaptation of Frank Herbert‘s classic sci-fi novel picks up where the first film left off, with Paul Atreides and Chani uniting with the Fremen on a path of revenge against those who destroyed his family. As Paul faces a choice between his love for Chani and the fate of the universe, he must prevent a terrible future that only he can foresee.
The first installment of “Dune” was released in 2021 and grossed over $400 million globally, despite being impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The sci-fi blockbuster partially filmed at ORIGO Studios in Budapest, Hungary also won six Academy Awards, including sound, visual effects, production design, score, editing, and cinematography. With a star-studded cast and an acclaimed creative team, the expectations for “Dune: Part Two” are understandably high. The film is set to hit theaters on November 3.
