The Hungarian Animation Pitch Forum will make its debut on March 28 at Toldi Cinema, marking a significant milestone for Hungary’s animation industry.
Organized by the Friss Hús Short Film Festival with support from the National Film Institute (NFI), the event aims to spotlight emerging talent and prepare them for the Annecy International Animation Film Festival’s MIFA pitch program.
This year, Hungary holds a special role as Annecy’s guest of honour, celebrating the 110th anniversary of Hungarian animation. The festival will showcase the country’s most influential animators, studios, and promising newcomers. A total of 53 projects have been submitted to the Pitch Forum, and a professional jury will select up to 12 finalists to present their work publicly in Budapest.
Finalists will also receive specialized training to prepare for the 2025 Annecy Festival’s Partner Pitch event, where they will pitch their projects in English to an international audience of industry professionals.
The initiative, driven by the National Film Institute, underscores Hungary’s historical contributions to animation. To commemorate this legacy, a special video presentation on the 110-year history of Hungarian animation has been released.
