In the autumn of 1757, the hussar general of the Habsburg Empire, András Hadik and his army carried out one of the bravest military feats in history when he captured Berlin. The Hungarian adventure-biography Hadik will recall their glorious feat as it was recorded in legends.
“Hadik took several years to prepare before its filming began in the autumn of 2021. We tried to make the most out of the time we had, to prepare the cast for the difficult tasks ahead of them. The hussars ride horses, rush into battle and engage in hand-to-hand combat – skills which the actors playing them had to master. Thanks to these training sessions, they were involved in many more scenes during the shooting, in situations which other films would have used stunt doubles for. They’ve put a fantastic amount of work into the film, which will definitely show on screen. I hope that the audience will be constantly surprised by the actors’ performance and courage.” – said János Szikora, the film’s director.
The spectacular battle and fight scenes were choreographed and taught to the actors by one of the most outstanding representatives of the Hungarian stunt profession, Zoltán Gulyás Kiss, and MCU stunt coordinator Steve Dent, who oversaw the action scenes of Hadik in while working on “Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny”. He also personally supervised the filming of battles, which involved hundreds of participants, to ensure that the most spectacular moments were captured.
The main actors of “Hadik” are Zsolt Trill, Áron Molnár, Lili Horváth, Tamás Szalma, Győző Szabó, Zsolt László, Julia Jukobowska, joined by Tamás Sághy, Lili Bordán, Gábor Reviczky, Ádám Lábodi, István Hirtling, Zoltán Mucsi and many others. Showing why Hungarian hussars were unrivalled soldiers in Europe at the time, the film’s long trailer reveals the exciting moments of the impossible mission:
The film is directed by János Szikora, renowned theatre and film director, while Márk Győri, an outstanding contemporary artist is its cinematographer.
Hadik will premier in Hungarian cinemas on 9 March 2023.
