Ridley Scott’s classic will take on a new form in the upcoming Amazon series called Blade Runner 2099.
After the rumors in February 2022, stating that Amazon would be making a Blade Runner series with Ridley Scott returning as a producer, the company has officially ordered the show. As it was implied back then, Blade Runner 2099 will be a 10-episode sequel to Denis Villeneuve‘s 2017 film “Blade Runner 2049”, set 50 years after the film’s plot.
Ridley Scott, the director of the original “Blade Runner” will be the executive producer of the series, and Luisa Silka, who previously worked on Shining Girls and Halo will write the script.
Expectations towards the neo-noir world of androids are as high as ever, but Denis Villeneuve‘s 2017 take on the classic has opened many doors to further adaptations.
Since the latest live-action entry of the Blade Runner franchise was filmed in Budapest, Hungary, we are left to wonder if the new series will return to ORIGO Studios.
