Sci-fi thriller Apteros, written and directed by Edward Anderson, is now being filmed in Hungary.
Produced by Laura Rister, Daniel Kresmery, and Jonathan Halperyn, the film, set in the not-too-distant future, will see a crew of seven astronauts embark on a mission to Mars after the discovery of bacterial life on the red planet. The astronauts, including Science Officer Tressie (played by Kaya Scodelario), Captain Mitchell (Lance Reddick) and Systems Engineer Wade (Ben Hardy) will face a series of unusual events unfold aboard their spacecraft called Apteros.
Over the course of the film, the crew will find themselves embroiled in a tense psychological battle, struggling to work out what is happening. With the situation growing ever more desperate, it will become apparent that it’s not just the mission at stake, but all life on Earth.
Anderson is known for writing heist thriller “Flawless”, which starred Michael Caine and Demi Moore, as well as Shuttle.
London-based company Independent Entertainment, in charge of the film’s international sales, said in a statement, “Independent have a long history of working on bold and ambitious sci-fi, and the script for Apteros rates as one of the best we’ve seen. Edward has created a gripping thriller full of big ideas, and we can’t wait for him bring his vision to life with this exceptionally talented group of actors.”
